@davidsmith23 starts to track VPIP.....

Today has been another great day to put some of Bennett's techniques to work.  We went to the poker table to test them out.  There's a local bar I play poker at in the week.  I've pretty much figured out how majority of the players play at the bar but haven't quite figure are out the good ones yet.  After using one of Bennett's methods tonight, I have a full understand how everyone plays.

The first thing you have to consider is this, its free poker so everyone is just going to play decent to good cards and if they hit, they will try to bait you into playing them.  Secondly; you do have your occasional donkey so they can be a pain in the rear end and can throw your game off so you have to be real careful.  The good thing is, there is no one at the bar that plays the player instead of the card and I will tell you how I know.

There were a total of 4 players I tracked throughout the night and none of them were even aware of what was going on.  As I mentioned in the previous paragraph this is free poker and you have your donkeys, so there were players going out left and right.   With that being said, there was no possible way to track them for the alleged time I was given by Bennett before the poker tourney began.  So, I had to use what was given to me.  There are two games played, one at 7pm and one at 9pm.  The two players (player 1 and 2) in the 7pm game played 3 and 4 hands out of 12 respectively.  In the 9pm game, the two players  (player 3 and 4) played 5 and 4 hands out of 11, respectively.  Each player VPIP are as followed:  Player 1 VPIP was 25%, Player 2 VPIP was 36.6%, Player 3 VPIP was 45%, Player 4 VPIP was 36.7%.  Based off this information, each player in the poker tourney plays playable cards between 36 to 45% of the time.  These numbers are fairly high because at a normal tourney, say held at a casino, each play is not as loose as those playing at the bar.  At a casino you can expect for players to play 10-20% of their cards.

The techniques used tonight prove that its easier to read players then what I thought.  If the player is playing 36-45% of their hands one day, that same player may play 15-25% of their hands another day.  This is all due to the player playing the cards instead of the player playing the player.  Knowing this will help me become a better player in the long run.  I believe in the long run, I will be able to track the whole table so with just this one technique, I will have the advantage over every player at the table.  It wouldn't matter if I'm at the casino or the bar, tracking a player's game will soon be easy.
